"Soccer Match Of The Year"

Friendly 3 :            LdV Girls 2 LdV Boys 2

The LdV boys and girls teams locked horns and battled to a 2 to 2 draw. Jio and Alexis both scored for the girls. The team I slooking forward to next years end-of-the-season rematch.

2011 Division 1 Tournament

Final Championship Tournament Record: 1 win 2 ties  (undefeated !!)

Game 3:            LdV 3 Einstein 3

The LdV girls played to a draw with Einstein, the 4th ranked Div 1 team.Einstein came to play but goals from Jamie, Marcy and Jio resulted in the 2nd draw of the Div 1 2011 Championship tournament.

Game 2:            LdV 1 Cal 0

The LdV girls shocked the league once again by defeating the 3rd ranked Div 1 team, Cal Middle School, 1 to nil. The winning goal was scored by 5th grader Jamie Floyd in the last 40 seconds of the match.

Game 1 :            LdV 2 Sutter Black 2

The LdV girls shocked the league and played the 2nd best team in Division One to a 2 to 2 tie. The girls were down 2 to nil at halftime but then fought back hard knocking two into the back of the next in the 2nd half. Jio and Frances each scored a critical goal

 

2011 League Play

Game 14 :            LdV 3 Holy Spirit 0

The LdV girls' biggest rival in the middle school soccer league is Holy Spirit. They have a fierce rivalry ! In the first derby this year Holy Spirit got the better of LdV at home 2 to 1. In this 2nd derby LdV came hard and soundly defeated Holy Spirit 3 to 0. The defense got their 11th 'clean sheet' of the season. Jio scored a brace contributing to her team leading 21 goals and Alyssa scored her 14th goal of the 2011 campaign. All 18 players received time on the pitch.

Game 13 :            LdV 5 SES 0

Originally scheduled for Monday May 2nd, match was played Friday April 15th.
The LdV girls took on an ever improving SES squad and won the match 5 to 0. Once again the defense held strong and secured their 10th 'clean sheet' of the season.. Two players got their first goals of the season; Aaliyah and Jalen. Marcy got her team leading 14th goal, while Athena and Jio each scored as well. Jio also contributed with two excellent assists. Now 18 of the 20 girls on the LdV roster have scored a goal this 2011 campaign.

'Friendly' #2 :            LdV 4 Brannan 0

Friday April 29th - For further preparation for the Championship tournament the LdV girls had their 2nd 'friendly' of the week against a Division 1 opponent. This time they traveled to Sam Brannan and once again represented Division 2 well ! The LdV girls bounced back from their crushing defeat to Didion on Wednesday with their aggressive tic-tac passing offensive attack coming back to life. Jio had her 2nd 'hat trick' of the season ! Alyssa contributed the other goal. The defense held strong with another 'clean sheet - their 9th of the 2011 campaign.

Game 12 :            LdV 2 Didion 5

Wednesday April 27th - LdV learned a valuable lesson - just because you win the first match doesn't mean you'll win the 2nd match with your opponent. Didion came to play and boy did they play hard ! The LdV girls battled hard and came back from being down 2 to 0, to 2 to 2 around 10 minutes into the 2nd half. After that the momentum shifted back and Didion attacked with relentless precision. Didion and LdV each won one of their two meeting this season. Jio and Alyssa each scored a goal for LdV.

'Friendly' #1 :            LdV 4 Rosa Parks 0

Monday April 25th - In preparation for the Championship tournament starting May 9th the LdV girls had a "friendly' with Division 1 opponent Rosa Parks. The girls represented Division 2 well by showing their skill and quality with a 4 to 0 victory. The defense held strong with another 'clean sheet' - their 8th of the 2011 campaign. All 18 players received time on the pitch. Breia, Jio, Lily and Christa all knocked one into the back of the net.

Game 11 :            LdV 8 Greenwood 0

The LdV girls took care of business once again on Wednesday versus Caleb Greenwood. The defense secured their 7th clean sheet of the season. Jio M hit a 'hat trick' - the first one by an LdV player this season! Marcelina contributed two assists and Alyssa Y, Savannah T, Christa S and Sienna C all knocked one into the back of the net.

Game 10 :            LdV 10 LAS 1

The LdV girls had no 'let-down' with their opponent LAS on Monday (following their victory over formerly undefeated Didion the previous Friday). The girls showed up and did their thing and all 19 girls contributed to the cause. Marcelina M hit her 5th brace of the season, Jio M scored her 3rd brace of the year, and Frances hit a brace as well. Alyssa Y contributed with a goal and two assists. Super speedy defender Allie U scored her first goal of the year as did left mid/striker Breia T and defender/right-mid Arin G.

 

Game 9 :            LdV 3 MLK 0

The LdV girls won their 7th game of the season beating MLK for the 2nd time this season. The defense held strong securing their 6th clean sheet. MLK was much tougher this 2nd time around and the girls struggled to get the ball into the back of the net. Finally, towards the end of the game, - Lily, Alyssa and Alexis B all knocked one in to secure LdV their 7th win of the season.

Game 8 :            LdV 6 Still 0

The LdV girls won their 6th game of the season beating John Still for the 2nd time this season. The defense held strong securing their 5th clean sheet. Jio had a fantastic match, hitting her 2nd brace of this years campaign and also adding 3 assists. Alexis B, Alyssa, Marcelina, and Savannah all contributed a goal as well.

Game 7 :            LdV 1 Holy Spirit 2

Battle of the undefeated's: The LdV girls battled hard and completely dominated Holy Spirit but sometimes luck doesn't go your way. They suffered their first defeat of the year but are looking forward to the rematch with Holy Spirit. Alyssa Yayesaki scored the lone LdV goal.

Game 6 :            LdV 7 SES 1

The LdV girls secured their 5th win in a row behind Marcelina's 4th brace in a row, and Jio and Athena both scored a brace as well ! Lily helped the cause with 3 assists, while Alyssa contributed with 2 assists.

Game 5 :            LdV 3 vs Didion 1

The LdV girls won their 8th game of the season beating formerly undefeated Didion 3 to 1 ! This was easily the teams best performance of the season. This is the first time in Coach Todd's three years of being the LdV head coach that the LdV girls have defeated Didion. Jio, Alyssa, and Marcelina each scored
critical goals. There were many great contributions and one of the defensive standouts was 5th grader Julia Atlee - she stayed focused, strong and determined and held it down at right full back.

Game 4 :            LdV 7 Greenwood 0

The LdV girls defense secured their 4th 'clean sheet' in a row....well done !! Marcelina
Montoya scored her 3rd brace in a row. Jio, Lily, Alyssa, Alexis B. and Savannah all added to the goal total.

Game 3 :            LdV 7 LAS 0

The LdV girls defense secured their third 'clean sheet' in a row....well done !! Marcelina
Montoya scored her 2nd brace in a row. Alyssa Yayesaki scored a brace as well, plus had an assist.
Next two games are at home, with Caleb Greenwood on Monday, and then a battle of undefeated's on Wednesday with Didion.

chalking up a 9 to 0 victory against John Still ! Marcelina Montoya was fantastic with 3 assists
and a goal, and Lily Milholm and Alyssa Yayesaki both scored a brace.
